Hi! I'm Amy Schaffer and welcome to my portfolio page.
I am an undergraduate student and Walter Williams Scholar at the Missouri School of Journalism. My work in journalism has been featured in news publications including the Columbia Missourian, The Maneater and The Dart. I have also been published in Worthless Studios's FREE FILM : JUNE 2020 book for my coverage of Black Lives Matter protests in Kansas City, Mo.
In 2020, I received an Honorable Mention from the National Scholastic Press Association for Story of the Year. I interned as a digital marketer for The Park Adoption Community Center in 2021, and I currently serve as the Media Productions Chair for the University of Missouri's Asian American Association.
I use my visual communication skills and education on social justice issues for telling raw, honest stories. Using strong photojournalistic ethics and morals, I pour my energy into shedding light on under-addressed topics. I document large issues like climate change and racial discrimination by providing a voice - or putting a face - to the humans at the center of it. Through a drive to expand my understanding of human nature, I work to relate to every community member I report on.
When I am not in the newsroom, I am likely out getting boba with friends or in the tattoo salon building my sleeve. Contact me through any of the social icons on the bottom banner, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
