After spending years in the photographer's role, I took on a new title in the Columbia Missourian newsroom in 2023: photo editor. As a photo editor, I see through the entire visual production process. I handle the planning and logistics of photo assignments before our staff photographers go into the field, select their images that build the strongest visual narrative, edit text for captions, and work with the Missourian's designers to ensure the photographer's work is done justice in print and online. This position has allowed me to become a true leader in the newsroom. Here are examples of my work as a shepherd of visual stories and as "the man in the chair" for this strong photo team.
